Our fourth one page adventure (OPA) – download bite-sized inspiration for your RPG sessions!
This is one of our first one page adventures and it was even entered into the “one-page dungeon contest“. However, it didn’t garner much attention, due to it being a relatively safe and not very innovative entry. Still – this was one of the dungeons we as a group had the most fun playing. It was also based on our one shot “Bound in Chains” and the idea of having the players physically stuck together just makes for some fun, tactical battles.
Recommended RPG: Any fantasy RPG
Number of players: four
Duration: medium (3-4 hours)
There are few warriors more feared than those of Clan of Chains. They are infamous for their ferocity and their well-coordinated movement in combat. It is said to join the Clan, a warband of initiates must first prove themselves worthy in a trial few are able to survive. Your party is looking to undertake this test tonight. You are stripped of your equipment, save one weapon of your choice. The Clan Elder leads you to a large pit. With the words “rely on each other” you are cast down into the dark.
In this one-page adventure, you and your party will prove their fortitude in battle. Bound by a magical chain, you either work together or rot forever in the dark underground training ground created by the infamous “Clan of Chains”.
Hints, notes and ideas for this One-Page Adventure
The puzzle with the torches isn’t meant to be a headscratcher – just a ploy to get the players to spend more time in the labyrinth and stumbling across the oozes. Therefore, their number could possibly also be reduced to just two.
Each monster should individually not be a huge threat, but force the players to work together. E.g. Archers staying out of reach will force the party to move in together.
The oozes serve two purposes: they are slow enemy which can surround the players if they aren’t careful and they give players the opportunity to try heroic actions such as diving into one and have the others pull him out after doing damage.
